The Grumman F4F Wildcat was an American single-seat carrier-based fighter with a radial engine, the main carrier fighter of the US Navy and the Marine Corps in the first years of the war in the Pacific. It stood out for its toughness and became a mainstay of the US Navy in the difficult period after Pearl Harbor. The pitot tube on the wing is a small but conspicuous detail; a thin, crisp casting reads more convincingly and is more robust than a thicker plastic part.
