Self-adhesive, machine-cut masks for the model of the twin-engine jet airplane Arado Ar 234 in 1:32 scale, in the variants named in the title. The set serves to cover the glazing and other areas during spraying. It is neither a kit nor parts of a model.

A large scale makes different demands

The Ar 234 has a heavily glazed nose, and in 1:32 scale it becomes a sizeable part of complicated shape with a large area of glass and many frames. It is precisely on a part like that that masking by hand is least worthwhile: the larger the area, the more every inaccuracy shows, and a straight line several centimeters long is hard to keep freehand. A pre-cut mask fits the shape and the frames come out even along their whole length.

Work tips

• Lay large masks down from one edge and smooth them out gradually, so that no air stays underneath them — a bubble means paint running under.
• On curved transitions warm the mask lightly, as the film then adapts to the shape better.
• Polish the glass with a soft cloth once the mask is off, as in a larger scale every smear shows.
• Keep the unused part of the sheet in its original bag away from heat and light; otherwise the adhesive layer hardens over time.
