A set of unpainted figures of the Prussian Landwehr of the Napoleonic Wars in 1:32 scale, in combat positions: firing, loading and advancing. The large scale gives the figure room for painting work that cannot be managed in 1:72. The figures are in soft plastic, on which ordinary cement for polystyrene will not hold and neither will paint without preparation. That is not a fault but a property of the material.
The Landwehr was raised in Prussia in 1813 as an answer to the defeat by Napoleon, because the regular army was not allowed to exceed a permitted number of men. These were units raised from called-up civilians, equipped simply and without uniformity. Even so they played a significant part in the campaigns against Napoleon, among them the campaign of 1815, where they made up a substantial share of the Prussian army.
Wash the figures first in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry completely. Then apply a primer intended for soft plastics, otherwise the paint will crack once it dries. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. In the large scale it pays to build the paint up in layers and to add the small items such as buttons and buckles.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
