HGW masking set – Roland C.II and C.IIa (1:32)

A set of HGW self-adhesive masks for a model of the German Roland C.II and its C.IIa version in 1:32 scale. It is neither a model nor a decal — these are pre-cut masks that are stuck onto the parts, oversprayed with paint and peeled off once dry. That gives sharp edges with none of the thickness of a decal.

The real subject

The Roland C.II was a German two-seat reconnaissance and escort aircraft of the First World War with a characteristically deep, teardrop-shaped fuselage, which earned it the nickname Walfisch (whale). The C.IIa version brought partial design changes.

Use

• Separate the film, stick it onto a clean surface and press the edges down.
• Spray the paint in thin coats so that it does not creep under the mask.
• Once the paint has set, carefully peel the mask off.
