A resin figure in 1:32 scale, the scale in which large aircraft models are built. The figure depicts a Polish fighter pilot in full dress uniform rather than in flying overalls, so it suits a model standing on the apron, a scene before takeoff or a companion figure for a display model. The figure is supplied as an unpainted resin casting for assembly.
The figure represents a member of the fighter arm of the Polish Air Force in the period of September 1939. Full dress uniform differs from flying gear in cut, collar tabs and accessories, and it carries badges and rank insignia. For the modeler it is interesting precisely because a figure in this form appears beside an aircraft less often than a pilot in flying kit, so the scene looks less formulaic. The detailed form of the uniform follows the regulations of the day; small things such as the headgear and the buttons differ from one piece to another.
First wash the parts in warm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw, never break them, and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay down a thin primer before painting; with figures a light primer on the face and hands and a darker one on the uniform works well. Build the face up from the middle flesh tone through highlights on the raised areas to fine glazes, not the other way round. The uniform gains depth from a brown or gray wash in the folds and a light dry brush on the edges. Finally unify the surface with a matte varnish so that the figure does not shine.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
