A sizable injection-molded plastic kit of the American Grumman TBF-1C Avenger carrier torpedo bomber in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The model captures a massive single-engine machine with a crew of three, a roomy bomb bay and a dorsal gun turret. The large scale allows a detailed engine, cockpit and interior spaces. Check the exact contents of the box and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Avenger was introduced into service with the US Navy in 1942 as a replacement for the obsolete Douglas TBD Devastator torpedo bomber. It was a large carrier machine powered by a Wright R-2600 radial engine. Its crew consisted of three men and the machine was marked by the powered dorsal gun turret behind the cockpit. In the bomb bay it could carry a torpedo, bombs or an auxiliary fuel tank. The Avenger became one of the most important carrier strike aircraft of the Pacific.
In the large 1:32 scale, first paint and accentuate the cockpit, the engine, the bomb bay and the interior of the turret, and only then close the fuselage. Glue the glazing of the cockpit and the turret with a glue for clear parts and protect it with masks. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a gloss clear coat before the decals and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Decide in advance whether to show the bomb bay open with its load. Complete the naval scheme with the restrained wear typical of carrier operations.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
