The Magic Rock Vignette in 1:32 scale from the MAiM marque is a diorama vignette with a stylized rock motif — a scenic base under a figure or a model, not a kit.

A diorama vignette in 1:32 scale from the MAiM marque with a rock motif of an imaginative flavor. It is not a model of equipment or a figure: the set is a scenic base into which you set a model built separately. It is supplied unpainted and it reckons with being finished by the modeler — cleaned up, painted and weathered.
The 1:32 scale is typical of larger figures and of part of the aircraft models. With a large figure the base is seen as much as the model itself, so a bare board rather knocks the scene back. A vignette offers a ready composition with a difference in height, a surface full of relief and faces on which you can work with light, shadow and weathering. The imaginative flavor of the motif does not keep it from serving a realistic subject in stony terrain as well.
Wash the surface in lukewarm water with detergent and let it dry perfectly, as otherwise the paint will not hold. After the primer, paint from a dark base and draw the structure of the stone out with a dry brush in two or three lighter shades. Accentuate the recesses with a dark wash, apply pigments on the faces and sweep the excess away with a soft brush. Leave the gloss effects and any water surface for the very end. Glue the figure on only once the base is finished.
The vignette is supplied unpainted. The model, the figure, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
