The set from the Aerobonus brand contains a figure of a US Air Force pilot in flight kit together with an ejection seat meant for the cockpit of a model of the F-86 Sabre jet fighter in 1:32 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a resin casting for a model you have built or are building. Aerobonus is the figure range of the manufacturer Aires and concentrates on crews and personnel in the scales where the detail shows well.
The large 1:32 scale offers a roomy cockpit that stays conspicuously empty once the canopy is closed. A pilot figure fills it and at the same time gives the model scale: the viewer sees at once how big the aircraft really is. The seat supplied in the set usually replaces the simplified plastic part and matches the shape of the figure better, so that the pilot sits in the cockpit naturally rather than merely dropped in.
Wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw; sand resin wet and with your airways protected. They are glued with cyanoacrylate. Before gluing, try the assembly dry straight in the cockpit, because the combination of figure plus seat tends to be sensitive in height. It pays to paint in stages before the final fitting: the flight suit and the life vest first, then the harness, the helmet and the oxygen mask, and the face last. Acrylics and a fine wash into the folds suit the clothing, while a glossier finish suits the smooth parts of the helmet. Shape the face with light and shade, not by outlining details.
The figure is supplied unpainted and unassembled. Paints, glue and the aircraft model are not included in the package.
