This set of picture frames with portraits of German emperors from the MAiM brand is a small prop with a big narrative effect. According to the name it is intended for 1:35 as well as 1:48 scale, so it will serve builders of dioramas with ground vehicles just as well as makers of aviation vignettes with base facilities. A portrait of a monarch on the wall anchors a scene in time at once, from the imperial era to the First World War.
Portraits belong in government offices, barracks, schools, station halls and bourgeois drawing rooms, anywhere loyalty to the throne was shown in its day. Contrasts work strikingly too: a picture hanging crooked in a damaged interior tells of the end of an epoch. The set fills out naturally with the furniture and the other interior props of the MAiM range.
Clean the frames up and paint them; gilding suits lavish interiors, dark wood suits government offices. Even the surface of the pictures out with satin or matte clear to suit the surroundings and bring the frames out gently with a dry brush. In ruins, a dusting of pigments and fine traces of damp work well.
An accessory for a diorama: it is supplied for further work, and paints and glue are not included in the package.
