This set of turned metal barrels in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber covers the whole gun armament of the American M6 heavy tank. It holds the barrel of the 76.2 mm M7 gun, the barrel of the 37 mm M6 gun and two barrels for the 12.7 mm Browning M2 HB heavy machine gun. It is not a model of the vehicle but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic barrels on a finished kit.
The Heavy Tank M6 was an American heavy tank from the early part of the Second World War. What marked it out was the combined armament in the turret, where a smaller 37 mm gun sat in a coaxial cradle beside the main 76.2 mm gun, backed by heavy machine guns. The vehicle saw only marginal service and remained above all a test design, but its unusual silhouette has made it popular among modelers.
Cut off the plastic barrels, open the holes out to the diameter of the metal parts and level the mating surfaces. Try the coaxial mounting of both guns dry before gluing so that the barrels point parallel to each other. Degrease the metal, glue it with cyanoacrylate glue and use a primer for metal surfaces. Leave the machine gun barrels in a matte dark shade; the gun muzzles can be picked out gently with a dusty pigment.
This is a detail set, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
