A resin scenic accessory from the Spanish brand MIG productions. It is not a kit of a piece of equipment but an element of the setting for a diorama or a display base in 1:35 scale. Unlike low road barriers these are tall dividing panels of the kind used to protect bases, entrances and checkpoints on modern overseas deployments. The casting has the surface of the concrete worked out, with visible formwork marks and chipped edges.
A tall concrete panel is extraordinarily rewarding for a modern military diorama. It creates a firm vertical edge for the scene to lean on, it hides an unsightly edge of the base and above all it gives both the vehicle and the figures an immediate scale, because a viewer can easily picture the height of such a wall. The panels can be lined up one behind another into a continuous wall, set in a broken line around a post, or one of them can be left turned aside and damaged, which lends the scene a story. They work well with modern armored vehicles, armored personnel carriers, patrol vehicles and purely infantry settings.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water, cut off the casting blocks, sand the surfaces and protect your airways while sanding resin. Build the concrete up from a light gray base, which you break up with a spray of several close shades so that a large surface does not read as uniform. Bring out the formwork joints with a dark wash and the edges with a dry brush. On large panels it pays to add vertical marks of running water, a hint of rust from the reinforcement and dust at the foot. Set the panels onto the base with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally sunk into a layer of modeling paste, so that they look built into the terrain rather than laid on it.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
