The 1:35 Carro Armato M13/40 wheel masking set from the Quickwheel company separates the rubber of a road wheel from the disk during painting. The cut-outs are cut for the wheels from the kit of the Italeri company.

This is a masking aid, not a kit. The masks are applied to the middle of a road wheel, cover the disk and leave the area of the rubber exposed. That is sprayed all at once and the boundary between the two colors is given by the cut of the mask. The set is prepared for the wheels from the kit of the Italeri company.
The most common mistake, which takes half the effect away from masks, is to reach for a saturated black. Real rubber has in daylight a rather dark gray to gray-brown tone, and in 1:35 scale the so-called scale effect comes into play as well, that is the fact that dark areas come across on a small model as even darker than in reality. Pure black fills a wheel optically, suppresses the shape of the tire and makes any further accentuation impossible, because nothing can be built under it any more. It is more practical to start from a dark gray and to shift it according to the situation: to add a little brown on a dusty vehicle or to lighten it slightly on a vehicle standing in the sun. Keep black at most for the deep shadows between the disk and the tire, and only at single points.
Thin the paint for the rubber and apply it in two or three light layers, otherwise it will run under the margin of the mask. Choose the darkest shade for the first layer and lighten the second pass slightly from the center of the tire outward, which will give the wheel depth. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set.
The package holds masking masks, not parts of a model. Paints, thinners and glue are not included in the delivery.
