A small add-on set from Voyager Model meant for a model of the Chinese ZBD-04 infantry fighting vehicle in 1:35 scale that you already own. It is not a kit, and it is not complete tracks either: these are the connecting pins with which the individual track links are assembled into a continuous run. A metal pin holds a joint more firmly than a plastic molding, and on workable tracks you will notice that at the first fitting onto the wheels.
The ZBD-04, also known as the Type 04, is a Chinese tracked infantry fighting vehicle taken into service in the first decade of the 21st century. The turret carries a 100 mm gun and a 30 mm autocannon, and the hull takes a dismount squad. The running gear consists of tracks with a fairly short link pitch, so on a model the track is a clearly visible feature, and at the same time the place where an inaccuracy shows first.
Assemble the track in shorter runs and keep trying it on the drive sprocket; it is easier to add two links than to take the whole length apart. Insert the pins with fine-tipped tweezers and trim the excess length only after assembly. If you are building the track as workable, leave the joints free and fix the shape of the track only on the model, because the track will then settle onto the wheels by itself and form a natural sag where it rests. Degrease the metal parts before painting and spray them with a base, otherwise the paint will rub off the pins in handling. At the end a dark wash and dry pigment on the contact surfaces are useful, where the finish on the real thing would be worn down to the metal.
The set is unassembled and unpainted. The model of the vehicle, the tracks, the glue and the paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
