Friulmodel 1:35 German 12.8cm PaK 44 / Waffenträger Krupp is a set of workable metal tracks of white metal that replace the plastic tracks of the kit and faithfully imitate the sag of a real vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains individual white metal links that are threaded onto the supplied wire and joined into a fully workable track with a realistic sag. Metal tracks give a model weight and a sharper rendering of detail than the plastic tracks from the box. This is not a vehicle model but a detail accessory for models of the weapons carrier Waffenträger Krupp with the 12.8 cm anti-tank gun PaK 44 in 1:35 scale.
The Waffenträger (weapons carrier) was a German late-war concept of a lightly armored tracked chassis carrying a heavy weapon, meant to allow quick movement and fire with the option of dismounting the gun. The Krupp version was to take the massive 12.8 cm PaK 44 gun, one of the most powerful German anti-tank guns of its day. The project stayed largely at the stage of prototypes and proposals and it never reached series production.
Clean the burrs off the links, put them together into two tracks and join them with a threaded wire that forms the pins; secure the joints with a drop of cyanoacrylate. The metal can be blackened in a bluing bath or sprayed with primer and paint. Realistic weathering is created with washes and pigments, which hold particularly well on metal. It is best to assemble the track straight on the running gear of the model.
This is an accessory (replacement tracks), not a complete model. The vehicle kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
