A turned barrel of the German 3.7 cm Flak 36 anti-aircraft gun in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. A metal replacement for the plastic barrel of 37 mm for builds of German anti-aircraft vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal part in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber, which replaces the plastic barrel of the German anti-aircraft gun of 37 mm of the Flak 36 type. It is neither a model nor a kit, but a detail accessory for modelers who want a more accurate shape of the barrel, a faithful stepping of the diameters and a hollow muzzle.
The 3.7 cm Flak 36 gun was the standard German light anti-aircraft gun of the Second World War. It derived from the older Flak 18, had a simplified transport carriage and quick-firing mechanism fed by clips. It was committed as a towed gun, in fixed positions and on self-propelled carriers and on railway cars for the protection of transports. The slender barrel with its prominent cooling jacket is among its most conspicuous features, and it is exactly that which is hard to shape in plastic with enough finesse.
Cut off the plastic barrel as close to the mantlet as possible and level the cut, so that the turned part seats squarely. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen it lightly; glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a primer suitable for metals onto the metal, or the paint will hold poorly. The muzzle of the barrel is drilled, so it pays to pick it out only gently with a dark wash after spraying.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
