A turned barrel of the 88 mm Pak 43/1 gun with a length of 71 calibers for the heavy tank destroyer Elefant, 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Aber. A metal replacement for the plastic barrel.
Responsibility details are not available.
A turned metal part in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It replaces the plastic barrel of the heavy anti-tank gun of 88 mm of the Pak 43/1 type with a length of 71 calibers, which the German heavy tank destroyer designated the Elefant carried. This is a detail accessory for a plastic model, not a kit of the vehicle.
The heavy tank destroyer came about by rebuilding the chassis of an unsuccessful prototype of a heavy tank. In a massive rear casemate it carried a long gun of 88 mm with a length of 71 calibers, which was among the most effective anti-tank weapons of its day and could hit targets at ranges where it stayed out of reach itself. The vehicle was heavy, slow and unreliable, and yet it became one of the best-known armored vehicles of the Second World War. The long barrel is the most exposed part on a model and in plastic it bends easily.
Cut off the plastic barrel as close to the mantlet as possible and level the cut, so that the turned part seats squarely. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen it lightly; glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a primer suitable for metals onto the metal, or the paint will hold poorly. The muzzle of the barrel is drilled, so it pays to pick it out only gently with a dark wash after spraying.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
