Decals in 1:35 for American half-tracks in Polish service. Seven options from anti-aircraft vehicles through signals machines to a self-propelled gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
American half-tracks carried infantry, towed guns, held radio sets and in their anti-aircraft versions protected columns against air attack. The Polish formations received them from common deliveries and ran them in Italy and in North-West Europe; some stayed in service a year after the fighting ended.
The most striking is the anti-aircraft vehicle with four heavy machine guns of the 1st Anti-Aircraft Regiment of the 1st Polish Armoured Division in Germany in 1945. Beside it the sheet names carriers of the 10th Mounted Rifle Regiment and the 10th Dragoon Regiment, a signals vehicle of the 3rd Signals Squadron from France in 1944 and two 75 mm self-propelled guns of the 12th Podolian Lancers Regiment in Italy in the autumn of 1945. The last option belongs to the 4th Armoured Regiment of the 2nd Polish Armoured Division.
The side of a half-track is a long flat surface, so a decal settles on it easily, but that is also why even small deviations show. Before you lay an insignia down, check from the sheet which side of the vehicle it belongs on and make a light pencil mark on the surface. Trim the carrier film as close as possible; around tactical numbers the clear edge tends to be wide and would shine on a matte finish.
Besides the model and the paints, a dish of lukewarm water, blunt-tipped tweezers, cotton swabs and a setting solution are enough. On vehicles with a canvas top, consider whether you will build it furled; some of the insignia sit on the top edge of the body and stay more visible with the cover down.
