An injection-molded plastic kit of the Hungarian 40M Nimrod self-propelled gun in 1:35 scale from the Hobby Boss brand. The model captures a tracked vehicle with an open traversing turret carrying an automatic cannon. It is a finely shaped tooling with a slide-molded hull part and photo-etched parts enclosed; the package contains the parts of the running gear, the hull and the turret and a decal sheet.
The Nimrod was a Hungarian self-propelled anti-aircraft and anti-tank gun based on a license-built Swedish Landsverk L-62 chassis. The open traversing turret carried an automatic cannon of 40 mm caliber, meant to serve against aircraft as well as lightly armored targets. Against Soviet T-34 tanks, however, it proved weak, and so it found its use mainly in the anti-aircraft role and against light vehicles. It was deployed by the Hungarian army in the fighting on the Eastern Front.
The high parts count and the photo-etched metal call for careful work: first assemble and paint the running gear and the interior of the open turret, because once it is closed up there is no access to them. Glue the parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and the fine photo-etched parts with super glue. Apply a primer and shade the cannon and the ammunition boxes with an airbrush. Bring the tracks and the lower hull to life with washes and pigments for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
