Tamiya 1:35 JGSDF Type 90 Tank Photo-Etched Parts is a set of photo-etched metal parts for refining a model of the Japanese Type 90 tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of the tank but an accessory to one.

A set of parts etched from thin metal sheet, intended for finishing off a plastic model of the Japanese Type 90 tank in 1:35 scale. The accessory forms no model on its own: it assumes you already have the base kit and replaces selected parts on it with thinner and more accurate metal ones. The set is made by Tamiya of Japan.
Injection-molded plastic has a technological limit on thickness. Wherever the real vehicle has sheet metal, a screen or a thin section, the plastic part has to be noticeably thicker than the scale calls for because of the mold. Photo-etched metal pushes that limit: the part has a real thickness of tenths of a millimeter, so grilles and perforated areas are genuinely see-through and the edges read as sharp. The gain shows most in the places the eye goes first, on the upper surface of the hull and on the outline of the vehicle.
Cut the parts from the fret with a sharp scalpel against a hard surface, and do not break them out, as the metal will twist. Make the folds in a bending tool, or by clamping them between two razor blades or in the jaws of flat pliers, and do it in a single movement. They are glued with cyanoacrylate applied in a minimal amount, and more experienced modelers use soft solder, which strengthens the joint. Before painting, degrease the metal with alcohol and spray it with a base coat made for metal, otherwise the coat rubs off the edges. Only over that primer should the covering shade and the weathering go.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted and serves to finish off a plastic model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
