Modern stainless steel KEG beer barrels, which no pub, brewery or supply dock can do without. This is not a vehicle model but a resin diorama accessory in 1:35 scale from the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. KEG barrels are a typical prop of the present day and of the last few decades, so they suit modern civilian and military scenes alike.
Stack the barrels in front of the entrance of a restaurant, on a loading dock or on the bed of a van or truck as a credible load. In modern military dioramas they work as an element of civilian background - a street with a pub, the resupply of a base, an urban scene with vehicles. A small prop with a clear story can anchor a scene in time at once.
Wash the mold release agent off the resin castings, cut the casting blocks off and, if needed, glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue. A stainless steel surface is best captured with metallic shades of steel or aluminum over a gloss black base; stir metallics thoroughly and apply them at the very end. Credibility comes from a fine scuff, matte marks left by handling and perhaps a colored cap or brewery lettering from your own stock of decals.
