A pair of resin ball mounts for the hull machine gun in 1:35 scale in the short rendering for the Panther Ausf. A tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin detail accessory from the brand ELEFANT, two castings according to the name. It represents the ball mount for the hull machine gun, in German Kugelblende, in the shorter rendering as the manufacturer distinguishes it from the taller type in the same range. The accessory is fitted into the front of the hull of a Panther Ausf. A kit in 1:35 scale and replaces the production plastic part. In itself it is not a vehicle model.
The Panther Ausf. A was the first rendering on which a ball mount for a 7.92 mm hull machine gun appeared in the frontal hull armor. The preceding Ausf. D version did not have one and the weapon was used only through an open flap. The cast spherical segment allowed firing with reasonable elevation and traverse without greatly enlarging the opening in the armor. The individual castings differed in the height of the collar and the shape of the face, which is exactly the difference between the shorter and the taller rendering.
Resin dust is unpleasant when sanding, so work with your airways protected and preferably sand wet, when the dust stays in the water. Cut the casting block off with a fine-toothed saw and sand the remainder off with fine abrasive from around grit six hundred upward. Avoid overheating with a disc in a micro drill; resin softens and the shape rounds off. Wash the part before gluing and let it dry completely. Apply the primer under the paint in a thin coat; it also helps to reveal even small bubbles in the casting, which can then easily be made good with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue and sanding.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is not a complete vehicle model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
