A set of die-cut self-adhesive masks, Peewit 1:144 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XIV and Mk.XVIII, for the cockpit glazing. An accessory for building the model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
Die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Czech manufacturer Peewit for models of the late versions of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter, specifically the Mk.XIV and Mk.XVIII, in 1:144 scale. The set covers the cockpit glass during spraying, so the framing of the canopy comes out sharp even on a very small part. It is not a kit but a modeling accessory.
The masks are cut from thin low-tack kabuki-type tape. The material is pliable, adheres even to a markedly domed bubble canopy and, if taken off gently, as a rule leaves no glue and does not damage the paint underneath.
The late Spitfires differ from the early versions in their longer nose and more powerful engine, but the cockpit stays small and in 1:144 scale measures only a few millimeters. The frames of the canopy are so thin that drawing them out by hand is practically ruled out. A mask moreover keeps the same thickness of frame on all the models in a series, which anyone who builds several machines side by side will appreciate.
Lay the mask down with dry, fine-tipped tweezers, ideally under a magnifier. Spray the interior shade first, and only then the British camouflage and the lower surface. Seal the edge of the mask with a thin coat of clear varnish. Apply the paint in several light coats at low pressure, so that the engraving does not clog in such a small scale.
The package contains only masks. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery.
