1:35 Laptop is a diorama accessory from AMMO of Mig Jimenez – a miniature of a portable computer in 1:35 scale. It suits modern scenes, command posts and vehicle interiors.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an accessory for building dioramas, not a model or a kit. The subject is a scaled-down laptop, that is a portable computer, in 1:35 scale – the same size in which most military equipment and figures are built. The package contents, the number of pieces, the material and the dimensions are given on the packaging. Note: a laptop under the same name is made by another brand as well; this one is the piece from AMMO of Mig Jimenez.
Dioramas turn on small things. A vehicle built as well as you like still looks like a display piece until there are things around it suggesting that someone is working there. A laptop is one of those elements that immediately place a scene in the present and at the same time explain what the figures are doing – open on a hood, on a field table at a command post or in the hands of a seated figure. It also works as a deliberate contrast: modern electronics laid on muddy armor is a detail a viewer notices sooner than any precisely rendered rivet.
First try the placement dry and look for where the thing makes sense – a laptop does not stand in the middle of an empty area but propped, laid on something or held. Clean the part up according to the material you find in the package, and apply a primer before painting, so that a small surface does not lose its paint during handling. The body is rewarding in dark gray or black with a light sheen; the display can be handled with a very dark base and one stroke of a light color as a reflection, which creates the impression of a screen switched on better than a painted picture. It pays to spare yourself heavy dirtying – electronics in a scene tends to be noticeably cleaner than the equipment around it, and it is precisely that difference which looks believable.
This is a diorama accessory, not a kit. Figures, a base, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
