The 1:35 Leopard 2 A5/A6 wheel masking set from the Quickwheel company separates the rubber of a road wheel from the disk during spraying. The cut-outs are cut for the wheels from the kit of the Hobby Boss company.

This is a masking aid for the build. The self-adhesive masks block out the disk of a road wheel, so that only the rubber stays exposed and can be sprayed all at once. The set is prepared for the wheels from the kit of the Hobby Boss company, and with wheels from another mold the match of the shape has to be verified.
Once the wheels are sprayed with an airbrush, there tends to be a temptation to finish a few small things with a brush, because it seems quicker than preparing the spray gun again. On wheels, though, that almost always does harm. A sprayed layer is smooth and extremely thin, whereas a brush lays the paint on substantially more thickly and leaves bristle marks, which in 1:35 scale are visible as grooves across the whole tire. The difference in gloss is just as noticeable: a brushed area dries differently from a sprayed one and in side light it stands apart, even when the shade is identical. To that is added the risk that the thinner from the brush will eat into the fresh sprayed layer beneath it and lift it. The practical conclusion is simple: while the masks are in place, finish everything that can be finished with the airbrush, and keep the brush only for spot retouching in deep places, into which there is no view anyway.
Spray the wheels in series, while you have the gun thinned and running. Press the mask down around the perimeter and apply the paint in thin layers. Take the mask off straight after the paint sets.
The package holds masking masks, not parts of a model. Paints, thinners and glue are not included in the delivery.
