1:35 Libyan Leader is a CMK resin portrait figure meant for a base of its own or for a scene beside a vehicle.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin figure in 1:35 scale from CMK. Unlike ordinary military figures this is a portrait figure, that is a casting whose value stands or falls with the likeness of the face and with the characteristic flowing robes. Its place in a scene follows from that: it does not belong in a row among other figures but in an open spot where it is seen from the front and where it does not compete with another figure, typically on a base of its own or beside a standing vehicle.
The casting comes on a casting block which on a standing figure tends to be under the feet or under the hem of the robe. First wash the part in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release agent disappears. Cut the block off with a fine-toothed saw and true the remainder on abrasive paper laid on a flat board, otherwise the figure will stand crooked. With a portrait figure one special rule applies: the parting line often runs along the side of the head around the ear and across the edge of the headdress. Here scrape only with the edge of a scalpel in light strokes, because a single careless pass with an abrasive file will flatten a cheekbone or an ear and the likeness is gone. Check it under a magnifier and against side lighting. It is bonded with super glue, and it pays to glue a wire pin into the foot.
Build the skin on a portrait in thin coats and rather sparingly. A base tone, a brown glaze into the eye sockets, into the lines around the mouth and under the chin, and only very light highlights on the forehead, the nose and the cheekbones. Overdone highlighting distorts the shape of the face and the likeness is lost faster than by a badly chosen shade. Do not paint dark or deep clothing in pure black. Use a dark base and bring the edges of the folds out with a tone two or three steps lighter of the same shade, otherwise the whole figure turns into a black silhouette with no shape. On a flowing robe the broad area works as a canvas for a soft transition, so apply the paint in several thinned glazes. Finally matte varnish, on the skin rather fully matte, while on the clothing a slight satin can be left.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted as a resin casting. Glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
