A set of painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard for a kit of the American M113 in the ACAV version armored personnel carrier in 1:35 scale. It is not a model, but an accessory that makes painting the road wheels easier. The masks are of thin self-adhesive film and are cut precisely to the shape of the tire bands of the wheels.
The M113 is a tracked armored personnel carrier of aluminum alloy, one of the most widespread of its kind. The ACAV (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicle) version came about during the war in Vietnam and is typified by add-on shields around the commander's machine gun and the side machine gun positions. Even though the vehicle is tracked, its running gear is made up of a row of wheels with rubber tire bands.
The masks let you separate the color of the rubber tire band from the metal center of the wheel. You stick them on the wheel, spray the shade of the rubber and of the disc, and get an accurate boundary without the tedium of covering each wheel up by hand.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit. The model itself, paints and glue are not included in the package.
