A diorama accessory from RT-Diorama in 1:35 scale: a wooden fence for a scene with vehicles and figures. It is not a vehicle kit and not a figure, but an element of scenery. It is exactly such small things that decide whether a finished vignette looks like a model on a board or like a slice cut out of a real place.
A fence is one of the most effective props there is. It gives the viewer scale, because everyone knows how tall a fence is and works out the size of the vehicle and the figures from it at once. At the same time it leads the eye across the scene, separates the road from the yard and makes it possible to close the edge of the base naturally, so that the scene does not end in nothing. A stretch of damaged or leaning fence tells a story all by itself.
First rinse the parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and let them dry completely, as primer and paint hold far better on a clean surface. Paint the wood from the bottom up: a darker brown-gray base, then a dry brush in a lighter shade along the edges of the boards, and finally brown and gray washes into the joints. Irregularity is the key: lean a few boards, leave one out, muddy the lower part with pigments and add grass at the foot of the posts. Do not set the fence exactly parallel with the edge of the base; a slight angle looks far more natural.
