Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the American M8 Armored Gun System light tank in 1:35 scale. The model comes from a new mold and covers a machine that is still rarely seen, which makes it an interesting addition to a collection of modern American equipment. It is a kit, and the model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The M8 Armored Gun System was an American light tank developed by United Defense. It was to replace the aging M551 Sheridan airborne tanks of the 82nd Airborne Division and was also expected to replace the vehicles armed with antitank missiles in the armored cavalry regiment. The main armament was a 105 mm rifled gun with an autoloader, supported by a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun. A characteristic feature of the design was the modular add-on armor protection, which could be added or removed according to the mission and so match the weight of the vehicle to air transport requirements. The program was canceled in 1997 and the vehicle never entered regular service.
Assemble and paint the running gear before you finish the hull, because access to it later is poor. Fit the modular armor panels only after the basic hull shape has been painted, as the seams between them are then easier to bring out. Modern American equipment is usually painted in a single color, so the result depends on color modulation, subtle emphasis of the panel lines and carefully measured weathering. Weathering pigments on the running gear and scuffed edges where the crew walks over the vehicle give the model scale credibility.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
