This is NOT a model of a tank but a detail accessory. It is a set of workable (movable) tracks with drive sprockets for a model of the German Maus super-heavy tank in the V2 version in 1:35 scale from Takom. The tracks are link-by-link and stay movable once assembled, so on the model they sit naturally on the running gear and can be given an effective sag. The set is intended as a replacement for the tracks of the base kit of the Maus super-heavy tank.
The set brings the individual track links and drive sprockets for both sides of the vehicle. The links are assembled and joined into a workable track that can be moved and shaped to the terrain once put together. Compared with vinyl-type tracks it offers sharper detail and a more faithful rendering of the individual links.
Clean the flash and the sprue gates off the links carefully so that they fit together smoothly. It is practical to paint the assembled tracks separately from the model: apply a primer, a base dark metallic shade and then a patina of washes and pigments, which come out well on the running gear. Sag and the load on the upper run of the track give the model a realistic look. Work in subassemblies and let the tracks dry before fitting them onto the model.
It is an accessory, not a standalone model. The vehicle itself, glue and paints are not included in the package.
