This set of photo-etched brass parts from Voyager Model is cut for the Trumpeter 01588 plastic kit. It supplements it with covers, clamps, mesh and small equipment at a thickness injection-molded plastic cannot reach.
The LAV-III is a Canadian wheeled armored vehicle in an 8x8 layout, derived from a family of armored vehicles built under license. The version designated TUA carries a launcher for anti-tank guided missiles in an armored superstructure, which can be raised above the vehicle. The wheeled chassis gives the vehicle a high transit speed on surfaced roads and lower maintenance demands than tracked vehicles.
On a wheeled armored vehicle the most conspicuous photo-etched parts are the long fenders and side covers. Their main problem is not complexity but flatness. The slightest ripple is visible on the finished model from a meter away. So first straighten the part on glass or a steel plate with a smooth roller, and only then bend it. Glue it in sections rather than all at once, and keep checking by looking along the edge. Apply the cyanoacrylate in spots, so that there is time to align it, and hold the joint fixed until it sets.
This is an add-on set for a plastic kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
