An add-on set of photo-etched brass sheet meant for reworking a kit the modeler already owns. It is not a kit of the vehicle. The set deals with the blast shield, that is a flat part which in plastic is always thicker than it should be in scale for technical reasons, and on which the thickness of the edge is obvious at first glance.
The Stryker is an American eight-wheeled armored vehicle derived from the Canadian LAV family. The M1134 version is the anti-tank one and carries a launcher for guided missiles on a raised mount above the hull. It is with this version that additional sheet parts protecting the structure and the equipment around the mount appear on the vehicle. Vehicles of the Stryker family are not infrequently supplemented in service with further add-on items, so the particular appearance of individual examples differs.
With a flat photo-etched part the bending is the key. The grooves for a bend are pressed into the sheet from one side only, and you always bend so that the groove stays on the inside of the bend. A photo-etch bender is ideal: you clamp the part under the jaw and fold the edge over with a flat bar. Without a bender, help yourself with two steel rulers or the smooth jaws of pliers, never with round-nosed pliers, which will deform the sheet. Bend slowly and rather in several steps, because brass likes to break off crooked when folded in one go. Try a finished part on the model dry first, and only then glue it, in spots with cyanoacrylate. Before painting, degrease the brass and lay on a base meant for metal, because otherwise the top coat will peel off during handling.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
