1:35 North Vietnamese Propaganda Posters is a printed paper sheet of period poster motifs for dioramas in 1:35 scale from the firm ETA diorama. It is not a kit and not a waterslide decal – the motifs are cut out and glued onto a wall, a post or a notice board in a scene.

The sheet belongs to the group of paper accessories whose only task is to give a scene a believable setting. It holds period poster motifs relating to the North Vietnamese side of the conflict in Southeast Asia and serves purely as a printed period element of the backdrop – just like a newsstand, a sign or a notice board. From the modeling point of view it is paper that is cut out, glued on and patinated.
In a display a poster is placed on the wall of a house, on a wooden notice board, on a concrete post or on a fence. It works best when it is not in the foreground and the viewer discovers it only at second glance. In 1:35 scale the height of a poster against a figure matches an ordinary sheet, so the size does not need recalculating in any way. Paper has the advantage over a decal of keeping an edge and a thickness of its own, which with a poster glued onto rough render looks more faithful.
Cut with a scalpel along a rule; scissors make an irregular edge. Glue with a thin layer of PVA or matte glue applied to the undercoat, not to the paper; then press the motif down with a flat tool, so that no air remains. Smooth the undercoat beforehand, otherwise unevenness will print through the thin paper. Believability is added by aging: light dry pastel around the edges, a fine wash into the corners, a torn or lifted tip and finally matte clear coat in a spray, which takes off the paper sheen and joins the motif to the surrounding color. Several posters glued partly over one another always look more alive than one placed in the middle.
It is a printed paper accessory, not a kit and not a decal. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
