Self-adhesive stencils intended for spraying the camouflage scheme onto a model of the Opel Blitz truck. The stencils are applied to a dry base coat, a further shade is sprayed through them and once they are off a precisely bounded pattern stays. The shapes are made for the parts of a particular kit in 1:35 scale.
A truck is more demanding for spray stencils than a tank with large flat areas. The cab, the fenders, the cargo bed and the tarpaulin have curves and edges across which a flat piece of film will not bend without rippling. So divide the stencil into smaller sections and apply them one after another, so that each follows a single shape. A mask handles the crossing of a strongly curved fender more easily if you warm it slightly with hot air before applying it, as the material then follows the shape better and does not try to return to the flat.
Around an applied stencil expect paint to carry, so cover the neighboring areas, the chassis and the rubber parts with paper or masking tape. Spray in thin coats perpendicular to the surface. After spraying, lift the mask off before the paint has fully cured, and at an acute angle toward yourself. On broken-up parts pull the mask slowly, so that it does not catch on an edge, a rivet or a grab handle. Slight seepage under the edge is easy to repair with a fine brush, still before the protective clear coat and the weathering come up.
The stencils are a modeling accessory. The kit, the paints and the clear coat are not included in the package.
