A blanket comes into its own thrown over a bunk, the seat of a vehicle, a crate or rolled up beside kit. It imitates the texture and the color of period wool cloth and gives a scene the feel of a lived-in, used space. The pattern and the shade match the historical original.
Cut the part out and, for realistic folds, dampen it, form it over the undercoat and fix it once dry with thin PVA glue. The edges can be frayed slightly and toned, to imitate wear. Dry pigment or a weak wash will bring out the texture of the cloth.
