An injection-molded plastic kit of the French battleship Richelieu as she was in 1946, in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter. The model allows a build with the full hull or as a waterline version and includes a stand. The 1946 version captures the ship in her postwar form with modified equipment.
Richelieu was a French battleship of the class of the same name, with her main armament of 380 mm concentrated in two quadruple turrets in the forward part of the hull. As she was in 1946, the ship carried the postwar configuration of equipment and anti-aircraft armament. Her silhouette is marked by a compact superstructure and a characteristic funnel.
Build the hull as a whole or as a waterline model; clean the joints up carefully. Glue the plastic with thin liquid cement and apply the paints with an airbrush over a primer. A faithful rendering of the postwar finish and an accenting of the deck detail both work well. Railings and fine fittings can be added from photo-etched sets, which are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
