This kit from the Polish manufacturer IBG Models renders the Polish 100 mm wz. 14/19 howitzer in 1:35 scale in the version for motorized artillery. It is a gun on its own, not a vehicle. The 100 mm howitzer of the 14/19 pattern came about as a modernization of an Austro-Hungarian Skoda design and in the interwar period it was also built in Poland, where it formed the backbone of the light artillery. It was used in the artillery battalions of infantry divisions and in 1939 it was among the most widespread Polish guns of its category. The version for motorized units differed from the horse-drawn one in a reworked running gear, so that the gun could stand being towed by a car or an artillery tractor at higher speeds.
Artillery models stand or fall by the carriage: glue the assembly of wheels, shield and spreading trails on a flat surface and keep checking that the model stands on all its bearing points. It is advisable to paint the breech and the chamber before you close them up. The metal surfaces of the barrel come out after a dark wash and a light dry brush in a graphite shade. A gun is a rewarding subject for weathering: dust on the shield, muddy traces on the wheels and wear to the paint on the edges quickly add credibility. Paint the wheels and the tires separately from the body.
