The Quickwheel 1:35 masking set for the road wheels of the Pz.Kpfw.III is cut for the Takom kit. It separates the rubber tire band from the wheel rim with no masking out by hand.

A set of masks from Quickwheel for painting the wheels from your kit. It is not a replacement running gear or a kit. Its name ties it to the Takom kit, which with wheel masks is the main parameter — every manufacturer makes its wheel a fractionally different diameter and a mask has to line up exactly.
The Pz.Kpfw.III differs fundamentally from the Pz.Kpfw.IV in its springing. Where the Pz.IV rides on bogies with leaf springs, the Pz.III was given torsion bars and with them six individually sprung road wheels on each side, with three return rollers above. The wheels are therefore spread evenly and gaps are left between them through which the underside of the hull shows. For the modeler that has a practical consequence: every wheel is masked and painted on its own, and once mounted you can reach the tire bands only from the side and any overrun is hard to repair. Finishing the wheels before assembly is therefore even more important on the Pz.III than on vehicles with bogie suspension.
Deburr the wheels, degrease them and spray the base shade. Apply the mask to a dry finish, press the whole circumference down and spray the tire band square in thin coats. Choose a dark gray instead of pure black. Take the mask off while the paint has flashed off, and only then do the wash and the dust effects on the whole running gear at once.
This is a masking accessory. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
