A set of decals in 1:35 scale with markings for the German heavy tanks Pz.Kpfw. VI Tiger I and Tiger II. The sheet was published by ROP o.s. and its theme is German tank aces. The decals supplement or replace the markings supplied with a kit; the model itself is not part of the package.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War with an 88 mm gun and a barrel 56 calibers long. Both the hull and the turret were made of vertical plates of thick armor and the vehicle was exceptionally heavy for its day. Its successor, the Tiger II, received a longer gun of the same caliber, this time 71 calibers long, and sloped frontal plates. Both vehicles were used by the heavy tank battalions on the Eastern and the Western Front alike.
On a vehicle model too, decals hold best on a smooth gloss surface, so first coat the area underneath them with clear gloss varnish. Cut the items out together with the backing paper, dip them in lukewarm water for a few seconds and leave them to rest until they will slide off the paper. Once they are in place, blot the excess water away, unify the whole model with a matte varnish and only then go on to dusting and further effects. The exact procedure and the recommended softener are given in the instructions supplied.
The sheet suits a modeler who is building German heavy vehicles in 1:35 scale and wants to give the vehicle markings other than those the kit offers.
The package contains only the decals. A kit, paints, varnishes and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
