This resin casting replaces the upper plate of the fighting compartment on models of the Jagdpanzer IV tank destroyer with the long version of the gun, in its early and mid rendering. The part is cast with details that a plastic part usually simplifies. It is an accessory; the basic kit has to be on hand.
The Jagdpanzer IV was a tank destroyer on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank, with a low silhouette and the gun mounted rigidly in the frontal armor. The version with the longer barrel was produced in several successive renderings, which differ from one another in the arrangement of the upper surface, the hatches and the equipment. It is precisely those differences that decide which period a particular roof belongs to, which is why the manufacturer distinguishes the early and the mid rendering separately.
Thin flat castings may be slightly warped after coming out of the mold. Before you start cutting into the model, lay the part on a sheet of glass and check the warp against the light; a slight deformation is usually corrected by dipping it in hot water and then weighting it with a flat board while it cools. Cut the original plastic part out with a thin saw and sand the edge back, so that the new roof seats around its whole perimeter. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; the seams are filled and sanded back. When painting, let the relief come out with a dark wash into the engraving and a light brightening of the surfaces, because the upper surface is the most exposed to view on a finished model.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without the base kit. Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package.
