Eduard 1:35 Sd.Kfz. 166 Brummbär Zimmerit is a pre-formed photo-etched set reproducing the Zimmerit coating on a model of the Brummbär assault gun.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a pre-formed applique set from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:35 scale that reproduces the Zimmerit coating on the German Sd.Kfz. 166 Brummbär assault gun. The set carries a pre-shaped Zimmerit texture matching the shapes of the hull and the superstructure. It is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory for a faithful rendering of this characteristic surface.
Zimmerit was a paste-like compound that the Germans applied to the armor of their vehicles in the second half of the Second World War as protection against magnetic charges; once dry it formed a pronounced ridged texture. A faithful reproduction of that surface is one of the key elements of a realistic model of German equipment of the period.
The parts of the set are separated and glued to the matching surfaces of the model with cyanoacrylate glue so that the texture runs on continuously. Blend the transitions carefully so that no seams show. Once a base shade is painted on, the Zimmerit texture comes out with a fine dry brush and weathering.
This is an accessory for refining a model, not a standalone model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
