This is a resin part of the gun mantlet for a model of the German heavy tank the Sd.Kfz.182 Tiger II, nicknamed the King Tiger, in 1:35 scale. It is not a standalone kit but a detail replacement part that will replace the plastic mantlet from the box with a more faithfully cast resin treatment with a realistic surface texture.
The gun mantlet covers the frontal mounting of the barrel in the turret. A resin casting captures the cast texture and the details of the shape more precisely than injection-molded plastic and lifts the look of the front of the turret. The part is used when building a corresponding model of the Tiger II in this scale.
First wash the mold release agent off the resin part, cut off the casting block and sand the contact surface down for an exact fit. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Apply a primer before painting; the cast texture takes well to being picked out with washes and pigments.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
