The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The maker is the Polish brand Toro Model, whose range for 1939 covers even the less usual categories of soldier, so one scene can show the difference between individual types of unit.
Home Defence was the Polish army term for the territorial formations that supplemented the regular units. Their equipment tended to be more modest and less uniform than that of the first-line infantry, and that is exactly what makes such a figure interesting for a modeler. Standing beside an ordinary infantryman in a scene, it shows well that the army was not of one piece. For the details of the uniform and the armament, go by the illustration on the box.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water to remove the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; plastic cement will not bond resin. With a figure whose equipment is not uniform, it is right to choose a slightly different khaki shade from the neighboring figures in the scene; the result then looks more convincing than one color for everyone. Bring out the folds with a dark wash, pick out the edges with a dry brush and dust the footwear with pigment.
