A stand-alone figure in 1:35 scale cast in resin, meant as an addition to a diorama or to a vehicle model from 1939. It is not a kit of a piece of equipment. The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The maker is the Polish brand Toro Model, whose range of figures for the Polish army of 1939 is wide enough for a whole multi-figure scene to be put together from it without mixing different brands.
Infantry was the basic branch of service of the Polish army in the campaign of September 1939. An infantryman's gear consisted of a field uniform, a helmet, a belt with ammunition pouches, a haversack and a canteen, with the particular combination varying by unit and moment. For the details of the uniform and the armament, go by the illustration on the box.
Wash the casting in lukewarm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and sand the surfaces, protecting your airways as you do. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay the primer on thinly so that the fine engraved detail of the cloth stays readable. Build the uniform from two or three khaki shades, give the leather parts of the gear a brown and keep the helmet matte. Bring out the recesses with a dark wash, pick out the edges with a dry brush and dust the lower part of the trousers and the boots with pigment to match the terrain in the scene.
