The American tanks of the postwar generation, that is the M46, M47, M48, M60 and the heavy M103, shared a number of running gear elements and used road wheels of the same character. The wheels changed during production and during repairs and differed in the shape of the hub, in the number and placement of the holes and in the profile of the tire. The name also places the vehicles of the T54 family in this group. The set is listed as the type 2 version, that is one of the distinguished variants.
The set brings steel road wheels in 1:35 scale. On a model they come into their own in two ways: as a replacement for the wheels from the kit, when the vehicle is to carry a different type from the one the kit offers, and as spare wheels secured on the hull or on the turret, which is a rewarding detail for a diorama.
Choose the glue according to the material of the parts; cyanoacrylate holds on resin and metal. Cut the excess material and any production marks off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder back, so that the tire stays evenly round. Wash and degrease before painting. It is practical to paint the wheels away from the model and to seat them only when the tracks come up; painting a finished running gear with the track already on is thankless work. It pays to distinguish the tire from the hub with a darker tone and to add dust to the underside according to the setting in which you are building the model.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The number of wheels in the package is stated by the manufacturer on the box.
