This supplementary set in photo-etched metal in 1:35 scale contains, according to its name, two type 6 storage racks for models of Israeli M113 armored personnel carriers. It is not a vehicle kit but external equipment fitted to the hull. Photo-etched metal is the ideal material for this purpose: the real racks are made of thin sections with wire or mesh infill, which a plastic part can never manage without looking coarse. A photo-etched part has the right thickness and lets light through exactly as it should.
The M113 is one of the most widespread tracked carriers and in Israeli service it went through a whole range of modifications. External storage racks are one of the most conspicuous of them, because they enlarge the space for equipment and supplies. Vehicles differ from one another in the shape and the number of racks, which is why the manufacturer offers several numbered types. This item represents type 6 and is a separate variant, not an alternative package of the same part.
Cut the photo-etched parts out on a hard surface with a scalpel or special shears, not with pliers, which deform the sheet. Make the bends on a bending tool or between two blades, always along the etched score line. Metal is glued with cyanoacrylate glue or soldered. A primer for metal is essential before painting, otherwise paint does not hold on the smooth sheet and rubs off during handling. A rack filled with equipment and tarpaulins looks more convincing than an empty one; just take care that the load does not cover the very structure you bought the set for.
The supplementary set is supplied unpainted and without the basic kit. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
