1:35 Stryker M1126 with slat armor is a Voyager Model photo-etched add-on set, not a model of the vehicle: the brass parts are fitted to the AFV Club 35126 plastic kit you already own.

An extensive set of photo-etched parts in thin brass sheet in 1:35 scale from the Chinese manufacturer Voyager Model, which specializes in aftermarket detail sets for military subjects. According to the name the set is made up of three groups: the slat armor, the spaced add-on armor and the suspension covers. It is not a kit of the vehicle: the parts are cut for one particular plastic kit, the AFV Club 35126, which has to be obtained separately.
The Stryker M1126 ICV is an American eight-wheeled armored personnel carrier derived from the Canadian LAV III. It serves to carry an infantry squad and is conceived for rapid movement under its own power and for air transportability. In action the vehicles were supplemented with slat armor, a cage structure carried on frames around the hull, which meets a shaped charge warhead at a distance from the armor proper. That very structure is the most conspicuous feature on the model and at the same time the hardest to reproduce.
Slat armor is a textbook example of where photo-etched parts have a clear edge over plastic: a brass grid is a real couple of tenths of a millimeter thick and looks far lighter than a molded part. Assemble the frames on a flat surface, ideally on a sheet of glass, so that the long members stay in one plane. Use a photo-etch bender for the bends, or at least two blades and a steel ruler. Degrease the brass with alcohol before gluing and lay on a primer for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Glue with cyanoacrylate in minute amounts applied with a pin, because excess runs into the bars and blocks them irreversibly.
This is an add-on set, not a model. The plastic kit, glue, paints and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
