This item is not a model of the tank or a kit. It is an accessory set of resin parts that replace the exhaust pipes supplied in plastic kits of the Soviet T-34 medium tank in 1:35 scale. Resin makes it possible to cast a thinner wall at the mouth and a cleaner surface than an injection mold can manage, so once fitted the exhaust does not look like a solid rod. The manufacturer is the Spanish company AMMO of Mig Jimenez, which runs this range of accessories alongside its line of paints and weathering products.
The exhaust pipes carry the exhaust gases out of the engine compartment along the sides of the rear hull. On the T-34 this is a prominent feature of the rear, clearly visible on a model and at the same time one of the places with the strongest surface discoloration — radiant heat and exhaust gases change the shade of the metal and of the paint around it. That is exactly why it pays to have the exhausts done faithfully: they are small parts, but seen from behind they dominate.
Wash the resin castings first in lukewarm water with detergent so that the remains of the mold release agent are removed; otherwise neither the primer nor the paint will hold. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a knife, not with nippers, and level the surface with a file or abrasive paper. Protect your airways when sanding resin. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue — ordinary plastic cement has no effect on resin. Apply a primer before painting. An exhaust suits a combination of a dark base, oxide and rust shades and dry pigments; the effect improves if you leave the surface matte and bring out only the mouth with a dark wash.
