Carving foam 4 mm thick, A5 format from Green Stuff World. A dense foam that can be cut and shaped without crumbling.
Responsibility details are not available.
A sheet of dense foam four millimeters thick in A5 format, meant for carving and shaping. Against ordinary polystyrene it has a fundamental advantage: it does not crumble into beads, it holds a sharp cut edge and texture can be scribed into it that stays legible after sanding. That is exactly why rock faces, brick walls and stone surfaces are made from it.
It is used for terrain elements, for rocks and cliffs, for facing walls, for paving and for bases under dioramas. A thickness of four millimeters suits facings, thin walls and layering, where several sheets are glued on top of each other and a broken-up formation is then carved out of the block.
Cut with a sharp knife, change the blade often and make several light passes instead of one heavy one. Scribe the texture with a blunt point or a brush, so that irregularities appear. Before painting, apply a coat of PVA glue or filler to the surface, which stiffens the foam and keeps it from soaking up paint. Solvent-based paints and varnishes can attack the foam, so try them on an offcut.
This is a material, not a finished part. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
