Goalkeeper is a Dutch close-in weapon system for ships, that is the last link in the defense against anti-ship missiles and low-flying targets that have got past the other means. Its core is a seven-barrel 30 mm rotary cannon with its own radar for both search and tracking. The complete mount works automatically from detecting the target to directing the fire and is installed on the ship's deck as a single unit. Thales Nederland developed it and a number of surface ships of European navies carry it.
In this scale you build a stand-alone model of the weapon mount, where the breakdown of the cradle, the barrel cluster and the radar cover are all visible. It works in a display case as a separate exhibit and as a strong element of a deck scene that you fill out with figures and equipment in the same scale.
Try the assembly dry first so that you are sure of the position of the barrel cluster and the rotation of the cradle. Cut excess material and marks left by production away with a sharp blade a little off the part and carefully sand the rest back, so that the surrounding surface is not scored. The barrel cluster deserves particular attention while aligning it, because every deviation shows on the finished model. Wash and degrease the whole thing before painting, or the finish will not hold. The exact gluing sequence is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Paints, glue and a display base are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
