It is listed in a universal scale based on 1:35, because pictures on walls come in all sorts of sizes in reality, so the set holds up in interiors in 1:32 or 1:48 as well.
Art on a wall immediately raises the social standing of a room: reproductions of famous works belong in a bourgeois drawing room, a director's office, a cafe, a hotel lobby, a gallery and the corridor of a chateau. In the ruins of a bombed town, on the other hand, a picture hanging crooked on what is left of a wall tells a whole story about the life that used to be there. This contrast between culture and destruction is one of the strongest narrative tricks in dioramas.
